Since 1988 the Friendship Community Center has been a gathering place for people of all ages to join together and enjoy our community-based programs.  We offer educational programs, exercise and fitness classes, fun activities, and serve as a host site for senior meal programs. The second Tuesday of each month we host a Community Potluck from 6 to 8pm.  Bring a dish to pass and your own table service and join us.  Everyone is welcome.  LIFT (Leelanau Investing For Teens) hosts an after school program and meeting place for teens in the grades 7 through 12 in the lower level.  See what we have to offer!

The Friendship Community Center began in 1988 when a group of women looking for a place to have lunch and socialize raised funds and took a loan from the local bank to purchase the old Grange building.  For 2 years the Suttons Bay Friendship Community Center has provided social, educational and cultural opportunities for area residents.

Our History

A funeral home... a retail store... a Grange hall... a place for lunch meetings.   The 150+ year old building that houses the Friendship Community Center has a long and interesting history in Suttons Bay.   Today the center has been updated with barrier free access and modern restrooms, but still has the homey feel of an old-time social hall.
